The Digital Impact Alliance – a leading global resource on people-centered digital transformation – is thrilled to announce the appointment of Priya Vora as its new Chief Executive Officer. Following an extensive, global search process, Priya will replace Kate Wilson who held the position since the organization began in 2014.
A widely recognized and respected leader in global development, Priya has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to ensure the world’s most marginalized people and communities are empowered with political voice and economic opportunity. She has forged strategic partnerships and networks with some of the biggest development champions across the globe and has a proven track record of excellence in designing interventions to advance financial inclusion and digital development.
Before joining the Digital Impact Alliance as Managing Director, Priya founded the non-profit Future State which led research and advocacy to ensure more people benefit from the data economy. Her extensive background also includes setting up the Digital Development team in the U.S. Agency for International Development during the Obama Administration and establishing the financial inclusion practice at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition to her position at the Digital Impact Alliance, Priya serves as a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institute.
“Priya is the right leader for the Digital Impact Alliance,” said Lauren Woodman, Chair of the Advisory Group. “As trailblazer in digital development, Priya has never stopped imagining – and pushing – for a world where technology and data empower people, drive economic growth, foster local entrepreneurship, and create an equitable future for all. With Priya at the helm, I firmly believe the Digital Impact Alliance will play a critical role in helping turn this vision into a reality.”
“Digital technologies and data are more important than ever. We urgently need innovations and accelerators to lead us out of the climate crisis, to help us overcome the devastating setbacks to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and to tackle the persisting power gap between women and men,” said CEO, Priya Vora. “I am delighted to lead this group of passionate and talented professionals at the Digital Impact Alliance, and to find – and champion – practical pathways for digital infrastructure and governance structures that drive equitable growth, innovation, and empowerment.”
Priya takes on the CEO role at a pivotal time, with digitization – and the resulting data – rapidly increasing around the world. Over the next few years, Priya will lead a crucial body of work – research, stakeholder engagement, and practical guidance – on good data ecosystems, policies and practices, and how they can help harness the power of data for economic and societal change.
