At the Digital Impact Alliance, we work towards a positive, inclusive digital future.

Today, the power of data and digital technology is advancing at breakneck speed, unlocking incredible opportunities to improve people’s lives. Innovations like AI tutors and adaptive learning platforms, remote patient monitoring, and precision farming have already proven enormous – sometimes even lifesaving – benefits. These data-driven tools are advancing practical-informed decision-making for governments; boosting innovation and competition for businesses; and connecting people globally to critical services and solutions.

Yet, technology in and of itself – even when well designed – won’t automatically result in a good digital future. A truly positive approach also demands thoughtful policy, accountability, and robust governance, shaped by the needs and aspirations of people. Together, these foundations can expand opportunity, protect rights, promote equity, and support people in exercising agency over the digital tools and services that shape their lives.

To achieve these goals, we work at the intersection of research, policy, and practice, equipping leaders with the insights, tools, and resources they need to make informed, forward-thinking decisions that drive real, lasting benefits for people.

Across the different projects we work on, people are at the center of everything we do.

Our team brings deep knowledge and experience in the field of digital transformation. From data governance expertise to country engagement strategy to technical know-how, we leverage these diverse skillsets to dive deep, exploring solutions to some of the most pressing challenges faced by people, communities, and society. We advance digital and data solutions to meet real needs – like improving financial inclusion, driving equitable growth, and fostering social and economic progress. Our work includes five key offerings, which together, help set the stage for a more positive digital future.

Country-based learning and support: We work alongside country partners to co-create the policies, infrastructure, and governance needed to ensure that digital transformation is not only sustainable but also equitable, benefiting all people. For example, we’re partnering with the Government of Nigeria to explore – and facilitate – pathways to responsibly harness the power of AI and digital public infrastructure (DPI), which, when mutually reinforcing, can solve real needs.

Digital Dialogues: We bring together change-makers from across the digital development ecosystem to uncover actionable insights that tackle some of today’s most pressing challenges. For example, our Joint Learning Network unites experts from the digital and climate spaces to uncover innovative approaches to unlock data for climate change.

Communities of practice: We foster mutual learning and peer-exchange and drive collective action to advance best practices in leveraging data for impact. For example, our Africa Data Leadership Initiative unites leaders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, fostering a shared understanding of good data governance that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of the African people.

Policy initiatives: We advance and socialize the global norms and regulatory frameworks that are needed to ensure data and digital technology is designed, implemented, and governed effectively. For example, we steward the Principles for Digital Development, advocating for people-centered digital and data practices that foster inclusion and participation.

Products and resources: We test, curate, and develop digital tools and solutions that can be used and scaled to accelerate countries’ digital transformation journeys. For example, we developed the Digital ID Assessment to help implementors evaluate their own digital ID systems, helping uncover both strengths and areas of improvement.

And, most importantly, this work isn’t siloed. We take the key learnings, insights, and lessons from everything we work on – integrating them into our iterative – and agile – learning process.

We combine our targeted expertise – and international network – for outsized impact.

As a global alliance, how we work is just as important as what we do. This is why we collaborate with some of the world’s most influential investors and change-makers, while partnering directly with country-level implementers whose local expertise and insights are essential to designing, testing, and refining practical solutions in real-world settings. Through these partnerships, our solutions can be effectively adapted and scaled for a variety of different contexts – allowing us to drive impact far beyond our size and scope.
